While this blend remains predominantly cabernet sauvignon, the vineyard percentages change from year to year. In 2017, winemaker Stephanie Jacobs, selected 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot, using methods that bring each separate lot to its best expression. Then she blends the individual components for a balanced, complex wine that spends nearly two years aging in French oak barrels. The finished wine offers bright aromas of boysenberry and blackberry, with just a touch of minerality and perfumed oak.
"We select grapes for this special Napa Valley red blend from our three distinct estates along the Vaca mountains-the southernmost Suscol Springs Ranch, the mid-valley Doggwood Vineyard, and the northernmost Dancing Bear Vineyard on Howell Mountain."
